Several locations along the Gold Coast provide Stand Up Paddle lessons. The closest location to Surfers Paradise is at Budd’s Beach on the river behind Surfers Paradise. It is a perfect location with a sandy beach and plenty of amazing houses lining the river on both sides to see while you are paddling along.
Kirra Surf Lessons
Kirra Beach is probably the safest beach on the Gold Coast. The strong southerly wind and swell bypass Kirra and you can see the high rise buildings at Surfers Paradise. There can be a strong northerly current along the beach in larger surf conditions. Therefore we keep the surf lessons close to the rock wall which usually protects them from the current. Kirra is a fantastic spot for intermediate and competition surfers with an excellent right hand break coming off the point.
Stand Up Paddle at Palm Beach
Palm Beach Parklands provides access to the Northern arm of Currumbin Creek which is probably the best location to learn to Stand Up Paddle Board on the river. It is also an excellent spot to try kayaking. There is a large safe area off to the side of the main river just before in enters the ocean at Currumbin Alley. Consequently you can arrange for lessons or equipment hire.
